2016 Membership Spotlight: Rachel Cunningham

What is your name?
Rachel Cunningham

Why did you get into the music industry?
I got into this industry because I refused to work at a job every day that I didn’t love. I worked in healthcare for a long time and as wonderful as it was, I never felt fulfilled. I found myself dreading going into work so I swore to put an end to it. Music was the thing I loved the most so I moved to Tennessee without knowing a soul, got a degree in Music Business and convinced someone to hire me. It’s been an interesting ride ever since!

What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Becoming the first college graduate in my family and finishing with a 4.0 felt pretty epic.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
In 5 years, I plan to be managing my own clients. Currently I’m a day to day manager at The Collective. I help oversee the careers of Sara Evans, Clint Black, Corey Smith, Sister C, Elizabeth Huett, Edwin McCain, and Steve Wariner. I learn so much every day under the guidance of my amazing bosses and mentors. In 5 years though, I hope to have enough knowledge and experience to sign and manage my own acts.

What was the first album you ever purchased?
I think it was a WOW CD – a Christian hits compilation album.

What is your favorite book?
It’s a toss up between the Harry Potter series (they count as 1, right?) and The Giver.

What is your favorite movie?
Does anyone really have just one favorite? My top choices would be Harry Potter, The Last Samurai, and About Time.

What song is always stuck in your head?
The Indiana Jones theme song which doesn’t make much sense since I haven’t even seen all of the movies. John Williams is such a boss though so I don’t question it.

What’s one item we could always find in your fridge?

Vodka. Ha – just being honest!

Where is your favorite place in the world?
My couch in my apartment is currently my favorite place in the world. I don’t get a lot of down time so I really value the moments when I get to chill in my PJs and watch some mindless TV.

What’s something surprising about you?
My fiance and I are doing a cruise wedding!! This September, 75 of our closest friends and family will board a cruise ship with us, sail for a few days, port in Mexico, watch us get hitched, and then get back on board and party.
