What is your name?
Why did you get into the music industry?
Music is my passion. While I have bounced back and forth as a graphic designer with book and magazine publishing, music is my number one passion and it’s where I will always come back to or keep one foot into because I literally cannot live without music.
I read a quote recently that said, “The work you do when you are procrastinating is the work you should be doing the rest of your life.”
That is music related graphic design for me. It is what I have to be doing at all times.. even when I am in and out of the industry, I am still at some capacity doing it always!
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Tooting my own professional horn is something that makes me squirm, haha so instead can I say the fun or SILLY ones?!……
Liiiiiiike winning the Live Nation employee Halloween Costume Contest for my (work-appropriate) version of Katy Perry’s Peppermint tour dress that I crafted myself?? Katy is my favorite and so is Halloweeeeeeen!
…. but I briefly lived in NYC for few very narrow years, and it means so much to me because I had always dreamt of living there. I didn’t know a single soul in the city and got off a plane with only 2 suitcases and built a life there alone. And I guess, “If I can make there, I’ll make it anywhere..” or something like that? Since I grew up in a teeny “cows & cornfields” town (where people rarely if ever leave), it felt like an accomplishment to me at least? So though I am back HOME in Tennessee, NYC will always have my heart!
What are you looking to learn from WMBA?
I think WMBA is a wonderful tool for us to pool all of our resources. It is here so that we can help each other out when we need it, and to look out for each other. I think for me personally to it’s the best tool to network!!
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years I will be married (I got engaged, 2 weeks ago, yay!) And ruling the world with all of you wonderful women here in Nashville within the music industry!
What was the first album you ever purchased?
I remember a few of my first album purchases vividly:
Green Day – Dookie
Dave Matthews Band – Crash
Usher – My Way
Backstreet Boys – self entitled
No Doubt – Tragic Kingdom
Incubus – Drive
Third Eye Blind – Blue
And I am not ashamed of any of those!
What is your favorite book?
That is a toughie… But I do remember reading Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas when I was very young and being on my bed laughing out loud late at night trying not to wake anyone up! Nothing like the weirdness and ‘gonzo’ journalism of Hunter S. Thompson.
What is your favorite movie?
Hands down, it is “Almost Famous”. If you LOVE music and haven’t seen it, do yourself a favor and watch it ASAP!!
What song is always stuck in your head?
Semi-Charmed Kind of Life – Third Eye Blind
… or more than likely actually, something from the RENT or Wicked soundtracks. I am mostly a classic rock girl, but Broadway has its place in my heart, too.
What’s one item we could always find in your fridge?
Strawberry Yogurt, Sauvignon Blanc and The Laughing Cow low-cal Swiss Cheese wedges, haha OMG, yum!
I once read that Prince had the Dunkaroos snacks in his fridge at all times back when those things were around, ha!… what guy.
Where is your favorite place in the world?
That’s a no brainer. I have two. The Bow Bridge in Central Park AND the Motherchurch, aka the Ryman Auditorium.
What’s something surprising about you?
This is not actually not surprising or shocking to anyone if you have known me more than 5 minutes, but I am the very proud mother of the cutest dog in the world, Rigby! Yes, his name is a Beatles reference. He’s my little muffin maltipoo furball and I love him very much. You can even follow him on instagram! @rigbycity. (Yep..I am that crazy about him!)
